A new 30-minute web-based education module on PI research compliance has been developed and is now available for you to take. This training is required but its purpose is to safeguard you, our research and research faculty. This training is especially important in light of the examples of non-compliance, fraud and misuse of federal funds that we continue to see at our peer institutions and which have resulted in considerable fines in several instances.
As one of the largest recipients of federal research funds, Duke is accountable to the sponsoring agency as well as the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) for financial compliance. Given this accountability, it is important for Duke to protect the integrity of its federally funded sponsored research programs.
Attached is a link to the compliance materials that include new policies and guidelines. Once you review the materials and successfully pass the quiz, a flag will be updated in the SPS (pre-award) system. The Pre-award Offices will verify training has been completed before new grant funding is distributed.
If you cannot get to the link within your email software, copy the address directly into your web browser. If you have further problems, contact your systems administrator.
No one has a more important role in ensuring financial compliance than the PI. As the person ultimately responsible for the management of sponsored projects, your full support is critical to our success.
Thank you.
